This was a large steelwork installation which Direct Engineering carried out under very challenging conditions, working in partnership with Dem-Master, the remit was to demolish the Adajio hotel on the Royal mile, Edinburgh.
The front Facia of building was to be retained , and the rest of building demolished, the steel beam system shown was manufactured and installed by Direct Engineering as a structural support while demolition was being carried out to rest of the building. Extreme care and attention was required during this installation as surrounding roads and walkways were still open to public. A major part of this installation was carried out using a mobile tower crane which sat behind the building, steel was assembled, lifted over building and placed in frontal position where it was anchored to ground, and tied through window apertures with rods and beams. An impressive piece of structural steelwork, manufactured in our Linwood factory, transported to Edinburgh and installed using cranes, mobile access platforms and skilled labour.
Just one of many projects Direct Engineering carry out on sites at various locations in the UK.
