Direct Engineering was contracted to provide the internal structural steelwork for the refurbishment of Glasgow’s south rotunda located on the banks of the River Clyde. The building is one of two rotundas which once gave access to the vehicular and pedestrian tunnels under the River Clyde. The building is now undergoing refurbishment with the intention to convert it into state-of-the-art office space along with social and recreational space at ground floor level.

Direct Engineering scope of works was to fabricate and install internal structural steel along with staircases to create four internal levels with a viewing room on the top floor. Given the size and shape of the rotunda the installation of over 300 steel beams was no easy task. However Direct Engineering using its excellent resources completed the project on-time and to customer satisfaction.
